During the 1990’s demand for health care at Arroyo Vista Family Health Center soared among the area’s uninsured and indigent families. To meet the demand for health care, we opened a Lincoln Heights facility in June 1997. Utilization of the 6,000 square foot leased clinic in Lincoln Heights surpassed our projections, with total patient visits increasing tenfold from 2,700 in 1997 to 24,986 in 2005. In order to address this need, Arroyo Vista purchased a building in Lincoln Heights, just half a block away from the leased facility. We then launched a capital campaign to raise funds to renovate and equip this building from restaurant use into a 20,817 square foot community health center.
This renovation project has allowed us to
increase the number of providers, expand the number of patient users and
visits, and will allow us to expand our primary and preventive health
services to include dental, optometry, radiology, ultrasound,
mammography, pharmacy, health education and other preventative and
health promotion services. We are currently providing medical, dental,
optometry and health education services at the new Lincoln Heights
health center. We continue to fundraise for equipment and furnishings to
open for optometry, radiology, ultrasound and mammography services. We
